Rhenus SE & Co. KG acquired a 26 percent stockholding in the equity of Mierka Beteiligungs GmbH in June 2010. In spring 2013 Rhenus enlarged its shareholding to 51 percent and in 2018 to 100 percent . As a result of the cooperation arrangement, Donauhafen Krems gains access to the capacities of one of the leading logistics companies in Europe. The Rhenus Group with its headquarters in Holzwickede near Dortmund not only has a dense network of business locations in Europe, but also many branches in Asia. The services provider also works with partners and agencies around the globe. The Rhenus Group develops individual logistics solutions, which are tailored to meet customers' needs, in its four business areas, Contract Logistics, Freight Logistics and Port Logistics.

Rhenus Donauhafen Krems provides end-to-end trimodal logistics concepts with high quality levels along the 3,500 kilometer long Rhine/Main/Danube waterway in conjunction with the Rhenus Port Logistics business area - from the North to the Black Sea. The Port Logistics business area has its own warehouse and transshipment facilities and interfaces with rail services at the Northern German ports, in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Antwerp and further inland.

Rhenus has local agencies in France, Belgium, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria. Rhenus also has many business locations at inland waterway ports in Germany, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Poland and Romania.

Rhenus draws up, manages and operates efficient supply chains at these centers. Its services include transporting, transshipping and storing bilk goods, bulk unit loads, heavy loads, plant and even rolling cargo. The company mainly focuses on handling goods like coal, wood, paper, agricultural products, but also project loads, steel and metals, construction materials and minerals - and material flows for disposing of and recycling goods. Rhenus has facilities to pick up items and provide the final delivery services to and from the terminals by truck, rail or using coastal and inland waterway vessels.
